Possible to make my PortaPros last longer?

I got a pair of Koss PortaPros a couple years back, and I'm a big fan of them; however, they break quite often (I'm on my fifth pair I think). They always break in the same spot, on the cord by the audio jack. I wear my headphones all day plugged into my iPod which I store in my pocket/sweatshirt pouch. It's an internal stress-caused break of the wire in the cable every time. I also use them with my laptop sometimes, but that isn't causing the problem.

So, since I don't want to constantly send my headphones in to be replaced (they have a lifetime warranty), and I don't have the money to spend on new headphones right now, is there anything I can do to lengthen the life of the headphones? If your suggestion is something that will void my warranty (which would be any type of irreversible mod), it needs to be permanent/replaceable tongue.gif I already have some electrical tape around the end of the cable right now, and I think that probably helps a little bit at the very least. Thanks!

You could try using a small extension, it's bit more cumbersome but it will be the other cable which will endure the stress and when it goes out, use/make another one. The one I used with my ksc75 cost me 1$ for 1 feet.
