[Engadget]Apple: 3 million iPads sold in three days - Page 3

Kind of a reply to the above, I stayed away from OSX myself because I was under the influence of believing that it was just whack in general with its' interface which involves looking pretty in my eyes. Who knows just yet, possibility that OSX is more powerful than Windows, but still games get on there late and some software isn't on OSX that IS in Windows.

I will reserve my judgement, as I'm still thinking about purchasing a separate OSX computer in order to have a more professional platform for my business-like activities and utilize my custom-built Windows computer for video games.

On Topic: Apple selling 3 million iPads in 3 days is simply crazy in my eyes. I mean, this leaves a pictoral in the brain of how many dollars were moved in 3 days. Slightly crazy, but me thinks the iPad mini is a powerful platform for many on the go. As far as everyone saying that a tablet can't take out a computer, obviously doesn't talk to too many who use the internet for productivity instead of hard gaming and other various activities.

In my eyes, tablets could have already destroyed PC's as far as efficiency and practical use daily. Simple, effective, available everywhere.

I have several tablets and the only one use (about 3hrs a day) is my iPad 2 (on it now) Only had it 5 weeks and I already spent $30 plus on apps. The 3d medical apps are awesome.

Also, I went to the Apple store to checkout the mini and they only had one white in stock. I use the display for about an hour and it is pretty nice and really lite. I could not bring my self to buy the last little guy do to me getting my iPad 2 at Microcenter for $359... If it was around $269 then I would have grab it. Planning on getting iPad 4 soon, just waiting for Microcenter to get it in stock for $40 less.

The 3d medical apps make the iPad worth every dime alone. Nova elements and PBS just adds to it's worth. Even the bing app is excellent. The iPad has good apps and apps that actually work...

I still think Android has more potential than iOS, but iOS just works and all my Android tablets have nothing but buggy apps and the browser likes to close when it fails like it. Safari has yet to auto close and I only had one app freeze and that is batman, which needed to be updated...

My iPad build quality is excellent no backlight bleeding or screen/digitalizer coming off. My ASUS prime screen started falling off after 2 weeks and I only use it about twice because the browser like to close/crash. It also had way too much backlight bleeding.

My kindle fire has excellent build quality, maybe the best I seen of all Android tablet, but the Amazon UI really stinks, it's and insult to Android and the browser is useless...

I have a few more but they got left in the dust as Google push new version of Android out smile.gif

The biggest mistake I made was avoiding apple to the end, do to me not liking there OS X operating system over Microsoft's operating system.

I cannot deny they got a winning tablet and top dog deserve to get treated as so.

Excuse my grammar, still getting used to the iPad keyboard and features...

Good to hear from somebody who has owned multiple tablet brands and OSes. There are things I like about both Android and iOS tablets, but I have to agree that the overall experience on iOS is more consistent, and it's easier to find more high quality apps. Of course, that's just my experience, it depends on what kinds of apps you're using.

I prefer Windows over OSX do to me needing software that is only available on Windows being a coder and being Microsoft certified tech. If I was an average non power user then I would have no problem with OSX. I actual love the design of the new Mac book retina. I am the type of person who would pay extra for the design alone, but are not most tech enthusiast that way.

It mainly comes down to the software applications needed and Windows has what I need for power use and development and IOS has what I need for general productivity and education, even got my kindle app and reading books and viewing web pages is so much better on the iPad screen ratio, much better than my other tablets smile.gif

People were saying that when the original iPad was released.

I think you may be mistaken.

Agreed, more or less. I don't really use my Nexus 7 that much. BUT I didn't pay $600 for it,either. They're great for some at home casual gaming or streaming media where Wi-Fi is available without having to watch on a ~4" screen.

Agree!

I think some of the Apple iPad (not all, but some) haters never actually use an iPad for more than a few minutes smile.gif

Yawn....

I want to see a weeks sale. Same trend with the iphone 5.

We are in for another right skewed statistic sale.

Yup, think he is smile.gif tablets are replacing paper books, so that alone makes his statement not so well thought out.

I never use my PCs for reading and I really ever use them for viewing websites, except when I am designing or paying bills....

Been on my iPad for 3 hrs now and have used it about 3hrs a day at least 5 days a week for reading...

Long live the tablet!

Same here. My iPad boots and runs fast. It is awesome for small productivity tasks such as browsing and emails. It is great for entertainment with all the games and books I have on it. Best of all, even when I am not actively using it, it still is hard at work as a gorgeous digital frame. Using an Apple TV with it only makes it better as I can stream directly to the TV using AirPlay. The new printer I replaced my Epson with supports AirPrint as well so I can print from it if I need to as well.

I just choose to quote you for simplicity. There are a lot of people that disagree with me. I view tablets like PDA's. Yeah PDA's those silly devices no one remembers anymore. Because they were replaced with smart phones. Truth is tablets have limited functionality and use. Just like PDA's. As technology moves tablets will lose purpose. It's not comfortable holding a screen up for even over 10 minutes, to even make tablets good at general web browsing and checking emails etc, one needs to have the keyboard adapter. I could really go on but, in the end. Desktops still have a purpose. Many people require a job that makes you sit at a desk and do work. Desktops are still the best option and will continue to be the best for this. Many people require a computer that's powerful but mobile. Laptops will still serve their function. The only thing I see is laptops getting thinner and easier to carry, and having less power draw and longer battery life. But the idea of a tablet is a short termed idea. Tablets in the end will just evolved into better more mobile functioning laptops.
