Mini itx build, any changes before I order?

Hello again OCN!
I recently finished building a cheap but powerful office pc for my boss. Now one of my co-workers wants me to build him a pc for his mom who is using a 5 yr old dell that is super-slow. The catch is that she wants it to be small in size. Take a look at my list that I put together for him and let me know what you think and what changes I should make for better component choices or to save a few bucks as I am currently $11 over budget due to the ram that I selected (which I think may be worth the extra dollars). I will appreciate any good suggestions!

Here is a screen snip of the shopping list from newegg.

Thanks!

Do you have real use of optical drive? You can install windows with a USB flash drive. Also, with $30 more, you can get a BitFenix Prodigy case which is truly awesome MITX case. I'm building new rig on that case and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for MITX case. You can check it on my sig.

Thanks for the case recommendation adamski! +rep. The prodigy case is an excellent upgrade for $35 but small was requested, and that case is almost 2x as big. If it was for me I would change it without a doubt. I will definitely show it to him in the morning though and let him decide. I think the optical drive is a must for this pc (installing software, ripping/burning, and watching dvd's.)

2133 RAM is only really needed if you're trying to squeeze every ounce of performance out of a APU, which for his mother probably isn't going to be worth it. I'd use the samsung magic ram and bring it to 1866.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

Also on the PSU make sure you use the promo code RWNEB20

Thanks. Let me know, since its her mom who's gonna use this, the build looks solid to me. She can't complain with the speed she'll experience with that SSD. Good choice btw.

Other than me not liking the case that much you have a great little build. Good storage choices and great memory choice too... You seem to be doing fine, but I would be happier seeing a Lian Li case tongue.gif

Thanks guys- I'll take that ram into consideration. Used the same on the pc I just built for my boss, and maybe I got a bad set but I couldn't even get 1866 out of them with cas 10.

Yeah, some of the little lian li small cases are sweet, but they cost twice as much.

I'm actually basing it on the fact that I've heard nothing but good things about them, because I haven't YET had the need to buy them(but I will shortly).

You could also try this

How small do you really want it? I personally love these little HTPC boxes... They are so tiny.. This combo comes with a good PSU too thumb.gif
http://www.mini-box.com/M350-Enclosure-WITH-PICOPSU-150-XT-and-150W-Adapter-KIT

The only thing is, there will only be room for one 2.5" HDD/SSD. Unless you get another bracket... which is only $2....
http://www.mini-box.com/M350-HDD-Brackets

You could even mount this with a vesa mount too.... thumb.gif
