Carbide 500r Fan Controller Question

I just got my build set up and connected all the fans to the fan controller. They spin, the lights work, and the button on the front of the case works to turn the lights on and off. Unfortunately, the three-setting switch that is supposed to change the fan speed isn't doing anything. Was there something else I was supposed to plug in to get that to work? I have the Molex plugged into the PSU via Molex-SATA, and all the fans plugged into that cord. Is my switch busted?

depends what fans you plugged into it, it may be too high of an amps draw

The only fans I plugged into it are the ones that come with the case. Could it be getting to much power from my PSU? Should I be using molex-pci for power or molex-sata? I have a Cooler Master Silent Pro Hybrid 850W PSU. I would use the fan controller that it came with, but then I don't get the lights, which is slightly disappointing.

Never mind. It was working the whole time, but makes such a small difference I couldn't hear the fans spin up over the ambient noise in the room. Thanks for the response.
