What are the main advantages of going with the Gigabyte over the Asrock? There's about $25 price difference. I don't mind paying the extra $25, just want to know what that gets me.

Better mosfets. Don't you consider any of those Biostar boards? They provide a ton of features of the money.

4.5 Ghz is a relatively small OC. Also if he is not using LLC, the load on VRM is lower, so it is cooler. The only time I managed to get heatsink on UD5H get slightly warm is when I used LLC on Extreme for 4.5 GHz OC (my chip is terrible), otherwise it stays completely cool (given a good ventilation).

redface.gif ...I'm really not paying attention here...Shame on me doh.gif

Smart buttocks tongue.gif I know what is a mosfet and regarding to your explanation about not using the LLC is understood. So warmer or hot mosfets will not be an issue for OP (thread starter) since he's not interested in OCing. This has no impact on his decision unless he plan to OC but overall quality does matter which I think that's where you're going with this...right?

Here's my question to you...What is your preference in a mobo. If you're not planning to OC then what are you specifically looking for in a mobo besides quality?

Both of these motherboards fit my needs. I may overclock down the road, but for now I probably wont because I will have my PC running 24/7 and don't want it to be hot. I'm just wondering why you decided on the Gigabyte over the Asrock?

Yep, especially since one can get a motherboard with better ones for the same or close price.

Better design quality with Gigabyte mobos over ASRock...plain & simple.

Guys,

Thanks to both of you for helping make my decision.

Just ordered the Gigabyte. Appreciate the help! thumb.gif

Also got the rest of the parts for my build. Now I must wait for all the goodies to come in.

Biostar has better quality stuff..I'll probably get around to getting one and showing what it will do soon.I guarantee an AsRock extreme4 can't take the punishment.Oh..Congratulations, Massive17..on a good choice! thumb.gif
