Right this subject gets right on my nerves . Having lots of FPS is better . Not true a game will play happily at 30 FPS and more smoothly . Which i locked this footage at .

Anything less than 60 FPS in a no go for me, it makes games fell painfully sluggish and more than anything will cause me headaches.

At least 50-60 fps is desirable. Going above that is not noticeable visually and can only be verified essentially through FPS monitoring. Too slow is bad since the image becomes jerky, but above about 40-50 fps you really can't tell.

IMO all that high fps are good for is synthetic benchmarks.

I don't notice a difference until things hit 25fps. I am not super picky or discerning I guess.

30 fps i think is still acceptable. i see nothing wrong if the game fully functions at 30 fps and the user is fine with the results of consistent 30fps

I easily notice anything below 45-50ish. Above that, it depends on the game if it will be easily noticeable. No matter what though, higher always is at least slightly smoother feeling, even if it's hard to place it at first.

I wish I could comment on higher refresh panels, but I've never gamed on one (at least, not attached to a rig powerful enough to actually push the needed FPS. 75hz dell panels at college are nice and all but the Pentium 4 machines they're connected to getting above 20 fps is unheard of)

same to some extent. for me vsync off though.

luckily we do have the option to do something about it.

I read somewhere the human eye needs the fps to be 18-25 in order for it to seem fluid. But there is the whole sync thing with monitors and fps vs refresh rate
