Well, i can now understand why then. I didn't think the gains were that large! You just got unlucky mate.

No next time you need to leave your motherboard somewhere for 24hours to dry off, before powering it on after a small leak. thumb.gif

I knew that, i feel pretty stupid, i was rushing myself to see the temos i was excited and the there was smoke, maybe it wasn't the delid.

I'd guess it's probably the spill that killed your cpu and board, rather than the delid. As far as I've heard so far, people who killed their cpu delidding didn't really blow up the rest of their pc when trying to boot... Sorry for your loss, though, man! Hope you're luckier next time, if you plan on delidding the next cpu at all!

I'll see temps first and have a good week think!

Like I did the math in the delidding thread.

With a VCORE like that at 4.5, it will probably require 1.45V at least for 4.7. At that stage 20 deg saving is far gone.

Is it worth it? Perhaps on a low voltage chip or if you really need it.

I think I am just going to stick with mine as it is. biggrin.gif

PS: Do a voltage test. At 4.5 (or what ever you get on the new chip), bump up the voltage 0.5V a go under load, and see what effect it has. In my case it was BAD. Multiplier changing did not really affect the temps so much, only about 2-3 deg (45 -> 46).

I think it's the socket that caused the damage, happened to me, bent some pins and shorted them. Got 00 debug code at boot, and reboot cycles.
Some contact pads traces were damaged and the board couldn't be repaired even when replacing the socket.
Cpu is untested still, waiting for my MVG.

some pins in the socket are bent, so maybe it did short due to that.
