When a Delid Fails - Page 3

That's an excellent board! You'll have tons of fun with those.
Good luck and if you delid that chip remember to hold the ihs in place with your finger when pressing on the retention latch in the mobo to press the cpu in the socket. Otherwise it can slide and bend your pins again...

This is why delids aren't as easy as they look and are not reccomended

nothing to do with delidding,
if you spill fluid on ram,
if you dont put back the cpu the right way, and bent pins

not saying delidding is easy,
but theres alot of other things that can go wrong smile.gif

its easy to say it was because of delidding,
i think if you read through the whole thread,
youll see that it was something else that caused it..

As far as I've heard so far, people who killed their cpu delidding didn't really blow up the rest of their pc when trying to boot... Sorry for your loss, though, man! Hope you're luckier next time, if you plan on delidding the next cpu at all!

it start bootlooping, or doesnt boot at all, things like that, if delidding went wrong..

Yeah i see what you mean, i have a picture and have circled where the pins have been bent or "missing" pulled out of socket.
This temps has less volts on overclocks but more higher temps might need to delid rolleyes.gif
It's weird seeing the same CPU box and motherboard box in my room...

Ouch frown.gif Sorry to see all that sexy hardware go.

I've had my coolant (distilled water + PT Nuke) leak all over my board and ram slots plenty of times while taking my loop apart. I would use a towel or rag to suck up the water and have a hair dryer go over the wet areas for several minutes. Haven't had a problem or any shorting happen despite the 3~4 times it has happened.

It's probably best to take it slow and make sure you put everything back together properly for the next time. thumb.gif
