it's basically a NAS / HTPC / HDMI to TV capability .. instead of copying film from external 3tb to external portable 1tb and hooking external portable 1tb up to LG 42"3DTV i just want all my movies and tvshows on 1xHDD where I can play all my files by hdmi on my tv ... cos I have an Xtreamer Pro but that only accepts up to 2TB HDDs and not 3TB above.
... was looking at this : Thecus N5550 | I use the family acer emachine ez1711 [all-in-one-pc] to download by jdownloader program [[[ USED FOR: Watching Movies, TVShows, Music, Pictures by XBMC from HDMI on 42"LG 3Dtv]]] and transfer/copy over files to the external hard drive (3tb which is almost full) ... So gonna go for 4tb deskstar 7k4000 series hard-drive x1... which would cost about €750 for both Thecus N5550+4TB hdd.

You dont really need to buy a nas, you can build one yourself. It is very easy to do, and plenty of guides on it. Where are you located?

You can but some ISPs(Internet Service Providers) block the ports required for it. It is really a hit or miss, sure they are some workarounds, but IMO they normally are more of a hassle than anything.

I know, but you said you were going to buy a NAS, the link you sent in your previous post
http://www.thecus.com/product.php?PROD_ID=76

Which will work with Hard drives no problem, but it cannot be used to play the media, it can be used to host the media. You can normally build a NAS for cheaper than you can buy one. What sort of Online stores do you have that will ship to Ireland? wink.gif

For your HTPC I would get the following case/PSU
http://www.alternate.de/html/product/Antec/ISK_300-150_Mini_ITX/144598/?
and this Mobo, cpu and GPU bundle
http://www.alternate.de/html/product/Biostar/A68I-350_DELUXE_inkl._AMD_E-350/1040143/?

Fill the rest out with a small 2.5" HDD, and 2x2GB of DDR3

For your NAS/Server I would get this case...
http://www.alternate.de/html/product/Rasurbo/BC-20/1032690/?
This Mobo, cpu and GPU bundle
http://www.alternate.de/html/product/MSI/E350DM-E33_inkl._AMD_E-350/1003057/?
^^The above board has 6 stata ports on it, which is why it was picked
This PSU
http://www.alternate.de/html/product/Corsair/430CX/1034735/?

And add 2x2GB of RAM and whatever HDDs you want. I personally use a small SSD (a small HDD works too) as a boot drive and use my 3TB HDDs as storage only.

what about this case Fractal Design - Array R2 or this one SilverStone LC20B-M

the case has to be compact and fit next to or on top or under the upc digital box.
