Windows / Max 2MB/s lan transfer is this normal?

When transferring a file between two computers over WiFi I get max 2MB/s which is equivalent to 16Mbps

I have a ASUS EA-N66 450Mb/s

Desktop: Linksys AE1000 300Mbps
Notebook: Dell WLAN 1702 (No information, I would expect it to be 300Mbps)

Any ideas? I have full bars reception on both computers. In a 802.11g environment I would think this is acceptable. But I am in a 802.11n environment here.

Please don't start Windows flaming here. I am looking for a faster solution or the cause of this problem.

Its the AE1000.

Youll want to download the actual controller driver for the controller contained within the adapter. I use the same ones because they are like $8.

I get 15MB/s

I had the problem too before where it would not go over 2MB/s

I could never really fix it. I think it was from Laptop to PC.

Try the card in another PC and see if that helps.

What's your wireless encryption set to? You should check your routers wireless connection settings and make sure they are correct and As far as I know you need to be using WPA for N.

I am using WPA security.

 

I am using the drivers that come with Windows 8 They seem to be the latest Ralinktech drivers. I installed the RT3572 drivers instead of Linksys.

A few days ago the RT3572 drivers where still available on the website of Ralinktech.

The encryption used is 128-bit, maybe the encryption here is the culprit?

 

My download speeds can reach 3MB/s

 

I will try again sending a file using Linux. I believe there is a terminal command for sending files to a ip-adress.
