hi guys,

i have a new 7970 card and i have just installed the 12.10 drivers but now my idle temps are 52c when b4 with the drivers i had on there from the disk they were 34c ?

can anyone help please?

Up to you could reinstall 12.10 to see if there was an issue the first time. These are hotter cards I just leave my fans set at 65% I'm around 40-50 idle gets hot when active but mine oc.

There was an issue with one of the newer drivers where the 7970 wasn't downclocking properly, have you checked if it's idling around 500mhz as it's supposed to?

no one monitor.

i don`t think it was set at 500mz i can`t remember now. i have uninstalled it and install the 12.8 driver and now my temps are 32c idle.

must be the 12.10 driver, i will wait untill the proper 12.11 drivers come out b4 i update.

my clock is at 300mhz now with the 12.8 driver

All in all great cooler for the money and has always worked reliably. Excellent for a backup cooling system or for low-cost budget computers, while still being able to overclock.
