Modding's fairly easy, like putting a loop together. Even better, it's like building your own PC. Most people think it's really hard and afraid to even try. But anybody who decides to overcome that fear realizes how easy it actually is.
Unless you've got terrible vision (or you're blind), have some kind of health issue preventing you from using your hands (shaking, missing a hand, broken hand etc...) there's really no reason to justify not being able to do it.
It's people afraid of height. Nothing's physically wrong with them and they could take the plain or get close to edges, they're just scared of it.

Having said that. I tried painting, I sucked at it. Glad I tried on a crappy 200mm fan and stuff I wouldn't use. I probably didn't have the right cans and didn't follow a good method. I'm sure if I saw somebody paint something I could do as good or slightly worse than them. I'll probably end up making an other thread asking for everybody's ways of painting metals or plastics.
Oh and I was thinking about not only painting them but hiding them. Modding the 5.25" cage so it's just a clean white piece of metal and making a PSU cover. But painting will be involved. And I might paint a symbol or something in a good looking font over the 5.25" metal plate that I'll have put their so it doesn't look boring.
Unless I score a job at McDonald's (10-15 hours a week and only until summer, I'm a student) the painting and all will wait next summer. The window I'll be try to do before next Year.
