Untangle/pfSense Box Inquiry

So I have en E6550 laying around and was thinking of grabbing an Intel BOXDQ45EK and an Intel EXPI9301CTBLK. What say you?

Should I just sell the E6550 for a couple bucks and pick up an Atom machine? Conroe blows Atom out of the water I'm sure, but I would like some relatively low power/heat and I highly doubt a UTM/router would stress either one for <10 users I would be throwing at it.

Any advice or things to watch out for?

I've used a Pentium 4 @ 2.8GHZ with Hyper Threading.
Worked fine for about 10+ users on a high traffic apartment network.

Aslong as there isn't too much traffic it should be fine with the Atom, but personally I don't think it is worth the cost to downgrade. Besides the E6550 has the power if needed.

You can look into underclocking the processor that may help with the costs.

Thanks, that's what I ended up going with. Grabbed that MB for $40 and that NIC for $20 and I'll slap them together next week sometime. I doubt CPU usage will ever go past 5%.
