EVGA GTX 570 voltage question

So seems something is wrong for sure, tried many drivers and still get the black tings. I don't particularly want to drop clocks too much... because I bought this card for speed, so i'm looking to up voltages just a bit, to see if it helps prior to an RMA... EVGAJacob look away now smile.gif

EVGA PrecisionX offers an increase from stock 1026mV to 1038mV... is this too much, too little? Obviously I don't want to damage my card and i'm interested in only applying a little, as sticking a ton through it isn't sustainable smile.gif

Prefix

In the last few weeks my card has begun to pump out some weird black flickering whilst playing BF3. There is no pattern and it doesn't last for more than half a second at a time, but I see some weird black shapes going across the screen.

I have tried re-installing the drivers but to no avail. Just always weird black colours flickering. It doesn't really affect game play, but is this likely to be the beginning of a hardware failure?

It's an EVGA GTX570 and I run the fan at 85% during gaming (800/1600/1950).

Could be an overheating issue...increase the fan profile to 60-80% and check.
What is the card?

Sorry, that's probably quite important information I omitted smile.gif

It's an EVGA GTX570 and I run the fan at 85% during gaming (800/1600/1950), all the time. Cores max out at about 60c during. Maybe important to note that this card is the 2nd I have had... the first cards VRM's decided to catch fire and die a horrible death smile.gif

That sounds like capacitor or coil whine. Completely normal. But since you're experiencing black flickering issues as well, the card may be failing.

Huh? There's no coil whine from this card... not sure where you read that. Just weird flickering!

Try reducing the core speed to 750MHz & check....

Yeah, will do. Stock speeds are actually: 797/1594/1950... so the only thing actually increased is the core by 3mhz and shaders by 6mhz (I like rounded numbers frown.gif)

I really hope it's not dead, EVGA's RMA centre is in Germany and it costs an absolute ton to ship it recorded there.

My bad!!! I mixed up this response with another thread I was reading about ! Sorry! tongue.gif

Try reducing your clocks and see.

Or try increasing the volts by a notch.

My brothers MSI 580 gave him wierd green lines, he bumped the vcore up a bit and everythings been fine since then.

That issue is typical with card failure, as somebody suggested try lowering GPU clock.
