Of that list, which would be the best for a light/non-OC'd 2500k? Even better if it's fairly quiet.

Thanks for reading. smile.gif

The Zalman CNPS10X and the CNPS9900 are supposed to be very good coolers, but if you're on a budget I'd suggest getting a Hyper 212 plus or evo.

True, the Zalman 10X would be a good choice, too, or any of these listed coolers would be good enough to cool your CPU at low rpms. I would just get a better fan for either one.

How's the Gemini II? I've always used outward facing coolers because they're easier to clean.

Not as good as the Hyper 212 plus or the evo...
The 212 is listed 159mm of height and is taller than the your current heatsink listed in your rig the Vortex Plus.

Just make sure if your case have enough clearance to fit the 212.

The 212 Evo has the heatpipes without gaps between them.
So the Evo is claimed to have a better contact chip than the Plus.
But the Plus is still a nice heatsink.

It's an amazing cooler, to be honest. I replaced the stock fan (was somewhat loud) with a Corsair 140mm fan.
At 4.3GHz, my 2600k stays under 65c while running IBT. No issues with RAM clearance, even on my M-ATX board.

EDIT:

After it hit 65c, it dropped the temps to 59c for the rest of the test.
