Far as I understand it, the the i3 is dual core with HT, i5 is quad core without HT, i7 is quad core with HT.

Most suggestions are pretty good.

You need to look harder. tongue.gif
Although it is the smallest more mainstream case, there are some much much smaller but those are either a pain to work with or are more expensive. Usually both. If you've never really built with SFF before (or plan on doing tons of research), the SG series would be better.

To get a lot smaller, you're going to have to replace your GPU.
Even a 7750 is sufficient.

Running a FX-4100 at 4.1 which is still barely able to keep up with intels i3 offerings a generation before. I do play on 1600 X 900 however and run GW2 on Max at an average of 40 FPS with a 6950. I think you would be fine with that CPU, and I believe you can OC it a little via upping the multi on a Z77 chipset. Sure it might top out at 3.8 max but that is still pretty decent when paired with the right card.

I know you can up the 3450 to 3.9ish using a Z77 by hitting multiplier so it should not be an issue with the i3-3225. Grain of salt though here, as I am not 100%.

Actually looks like I'm going to be going with a TJ08-E, since it's narrower than the Prodigy, and roughly the same footprint as the SG05 and Prodigy. Waiting for Black Friday to come around before I make purchases though. Could someone just recommend a good PSU for this type of build, lower wattage, and quiet.

Would that be a suitable enough to game on? I assume so because I thought a lot of people got H77 when SB first came out. That's a crazy good price for everything.

Absolutely, like I said my LAN box has an i3 on H77.

As far as I can tell, my i3-3220 doesn't bottleneck my 660ti (at 1080p anyways), so you should be more than fine.

EDIT: And the SG05 is a good choice for a case to support being carried back and forth a few times a year to school, and several times a summer to my grandparents house? It's literally the smallest mITX case I could find

Not the smallest, but it has a great price point and feature set. It's a great case. To go much smaller you have to start looking into PCI risers and pico psu's. The SG05 is right on the brink of size/features and flexibility.

The first ones out almost 3 years ago (socket 1156 Clarkdale) had Hyperthreading. There were NEVER any Core i3 without Hyperthreading. Socket 1155/1156 Pentiums and Celerons are dual core without Hyperthreading.

My GF is running a Lian Li Q07 with a GTX 460 and 3570k. Plays GWs at 1920x1200 fine (though a tad too laggy for D3 ironically).

Modded for dual slot card?

BTW Newegg has the Lian Li PC-Q07B (black version) for $45 shipped ($25 off w/ promo code EMCJJNA33, ends 11/11).

The TJ08-E is a micro atx tower. It is substantially larger than the sugo sg05, 4 inches longer, 8 inches taller, and pretty much the same width.

Thread Starter
I was just concerned that the included 450W PSU on the SG05 wouldn't be enough to drive an either the i3 or i5 (still on the fence about that one, along with the H77 or Z77, even after what I've heard in the thread), along with it's ability to cool, but I guess it wouldn't be that popular if it wasn't good at cooling. I'm just having trouble trying to fit a GPU in it. I was hoping to use my 460, but it's a bit too long for the SG05. Hopefully Black Friday gives me a good selection on a card under $200. thumb.gif
