ANd if they stop making drivers for windows just to make drivers for linux only. I would put my AMD card on ebay and save up a bit more and move back over to a nvidia card which would still have windows drivers support.

This. People will lose faith in AMD, if they already haven't.

This is sad and I do feel they should put more effort into linux but I can see and understand why they did this.

Based on the most recent reports, AMD chips accounted for ~16% of PC sales. Significantly larger than the 2% Linux base.

Somewhere around 40%.

AMD is strong in desktop processors, with 43 percent of the market

This is from back in April, so very well could have lost some percentages points but it's still singificant and should still be in the 40% range. Where AMD gets smothered and why intel has 80% plus market share is because they dominate mobile and server compared to AMD.

As gaming begins making a strong push into Linux, AMD processor support takes a step back...

I would say a step-forward.

I believe this is all under their HSA foundation plan. Soon you will have an opensource heterogeneous solution, with much better performance and AMD/ARM APU optimizations and unilateral hardware support.

As long as AMD is still working to better their Linux position then I'm all for it. I'll admit to be a coward about getting their GPUs just because I'm afraid of not being able to get their drivers working in Linux. Sounds stupid but I still hear complaints about them in the Linux world. If they had as good as Nvidia's reputation (which supposedly isn't that good anymore) in the Linux driver department I would buy the 65Watt Quad Trinities I've been salivating over.

They can't afford it. I know they'll make it though.
