Sound Blaster X-Fi 2 Utility on Maximus IV GENE ( Windows 8 )

A few days ago I installed Win8 on my system and was in the process of adding drivers. Everything went well except for the sound utility

On the Asus driver download site, the Maximus IV Gene motherboard has support for the Sound Blaster X-Fi 2 Utility on the Windows 7 driver downloads. The utility is absent from the Windows 8 driver download.

The utility version present for the IV downloads is version V1.0 (R11)

I searched for the drivers of the Maximus V GENE -a relatively similar motherboard- and found that it is showing an updated V1.04.01 of the utility on both the Windows 7 and 8 section.

I tried using the Windows 7 version on an 8 install and the utility did not function properly. I required an extra .net 3.5 install and when I tried its audio features, there were no enhancements audible. The program was showing that it was on/off, but there was no difference in audio. I could not get it to work. This sound software is crucial to making the onboard audio seem close to add-on card quality and it imediately turned me away from using Windows 8 until it's working.

I also posted this on the ROG forums, but I consider that replies there will be slower than on here.

Any Maximus IV GENE-Z owner, have you gotten the utility to work on Windows 8? Help.

SB will be slow, if ever, in coming out with a Win 8 driver, I know since I've had a SB for years and know first hand that they are painfully slow at releasing new OS drivers.

There's already a Win8 version, but it's only showing up on the Maximus V page.

Ironically, if you look under the utilities tab for Win7 on both boards, you'll see "Sound Blaster X-Fi MB 2 Utility V1.0(R11), indicating that both boards use the same audio software.
Download for the IV:

Download for the V:

Different upload dates, different boards, same program

Where it changes is when switching to the Win8 tabs. For the IV board the download is absent, for the V board it is "Sound Blaster X-Fi MB 2 Utility V1.04.01 for Windows 7/8 32bit & 64bit":

This makes me suspect that both boards use the same software, only that at the time of adding the initial drivers to the V board page, they conveniently placed the updated R11, but did not update the download for the previous IV board. Would the V1.04.01 be compatible with Maximus IV?

Later today I'm going to try the V1.04.01 on my board with a Win8 install, but if anyone has already tried it I'd appreciate it if you let me know; save me the hassle of going through 2 OS installs.

ADD:
The V1.04.01 which is marked as a download for the Maximus V Win8 and not for IV, is successfully working on the Maximus IV Win7.

*8 hours later*:FIXED

Both, the non-beta Realtek driver and the SB Utility that are for the Maximus V GENE, are compatible with the Maximus IV GENE-Z.
Simply install the drivers used for V, it's working fine.

Tick the "Windows 8 64bit" option and at the bottom of utilities, you'll find "Sound Blaster X-Fi MB 2 Utility V1.04.01 for Windows 7/8 32bit & 64bit."

The Realtek driver, LAN and the SB utility that are for the Maximus V are working perfectly on my IV last gen board with Win8.

I had a similar issue with the old version of SB in that it was giving an error that I didn't have .net 3.5. After installing it, there was no audio difference when turning on/off the THX.
After installing the 1.04; no error, did not need .net 3.5, it worked flawlessly.
