My Asus Xonar Essence STX card came today - I still haven't gotten my HE-400 headphones but I wanted to get everything set up before it came.
I installed the card to my first PCI-8 Slot (I'm running SLI so have no free 16 slots) and it does detect it as my Device Manager shows a "C-Media Oxygen HD Audio Device" in PCI Slot 3. So I can assume the computer at least reads the card, and the connect to my psu works fine (Atleast that's what I understand). I also plugged in my front panel audio socket in the card (and removed it from its previous place in the motherboard.
However when I tried to install the drivers I got a "Please plug in Asus Xonar Essence audio device"! message. I did a lot of research, and first downloaded the Xonar unified drivers. I still couldn't download my drivers after doing this.
I then disabled my on-board audio devices from the BIOS, and the two NVIDIA High Definition Audio options in my Device Manager.

It still didn't work.
I then read this and it looks like I have this problem as I have a "PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_878813F6" which is supposed to indicate that problem .

I tried fixing it with the files they had. I found dvd and put the file inside, and then tried booting it but it wouldn't work. Then I found a SD card and turned it into a bootable drive and put the file they had for that and it also didn't work. I then went and bought a burnable DVD and put the file inside, and then tried to boot it with that and it wouldn't work either. All I got was a Black screen with a white _ (The dash was at around the middle vertically while it usually is on the top- although still on the left side of the screen).
Does anyone know what to do? I'm stuck and have no idea how to fix this.
Thanks in advance!
