Res question

Thread Starter
My cylindrical res has one hole in the top, three in the bottom. One of the three bottom holes has a plastic pipe extending half way into the res. which hole is for outflow into the pump and do I just block the other two holes? Or can i affix a drain pipe to one of them? Thanks for advice.

The port with the pipe is for the return to the res i believe. You can use one of the other ports to feed your pump or cap them.

You use the tube for return to the res but you should be able to move it to any hole. You can either use it on the bottom or top. Then you use one of the other 3 on bottom for the pump and the other you just close up.

Ok so I mount it with the 3 hole side facing downwards. Green arrow is the single hole on the top for return to res, red arrow goes to pump, blue arrow for drain line, gray cross I just close off.

The thing I don't get is that clear tube inside, why would that be used for return to the res? It looks like i'm meant to keep the water level bellow the top of it, so it's some kind of 'air trap'. If it's just meant to help direct flow from the return back to the bottom of the res faster, then i'd have to put it on the top single hole right? Having a drain line at the top of the res would be silly I think so i'd prefer the 3 hole side at the bottom.

The top single hole lacks the thread on the inside to let me screw in that clear tube actually. It's threaded differently from the bottom three holes.

It could be for an anti cyclone effect. My line in from the CPU block on top, and line to pump at the bottom of my res have one of those tubes. Considering taking them out and using the anti cyclone insert instead though.
