The only other change we spotted (outside of the power port being flipped from horizontal to vertical) is the lack of GameCube controller ports up top. Say sayonara to those old Wavebirds, as Nintendo's moving on to its new tablet controller and its updated Pro Controller. Take some super close-up looks at all the minute differences with us below.

A list of close-ups comparing the Wii U console with the current Wii. Similarities are everywhere.

I saw a Wii U at gamestop today on display and it is by far the goofiest looking console EVER!!! It's too long. In all the TV commercials you can tell Nintendo is aware of this and covers half of the console with the controller.

That looks really cool, actually. If the 3rd party support is nice, I think I'll pick it up. But I've already spent so much and dedicated far too much time to CS:GO. frown.gif

lachen.gif That's a good one!!!!

But seriously I highly doubt it will happen. PS3/ 360 will still get the huge everyone else releases that look good and Wii U will get watered down ports that are horrible but amazing first party titles like normal, though I'm sure they'll get a couple of awesome third party games like MH or something. The more things change the more they stay the same.

But OT it's length would look weird anywhere on my shelf...... Cube still looks nice though. tongue.gif

Ohhhhhh just realized they're going with the ultra small form factor that the JP love because of their smallish homes and stuff, I guess the length was a compromise in the design to keep it less bulky overall. The size of the og Wii was excellent since you could fit it almost anywhere so I guess it's weird length is a good thing overall, but still looks weird. tongue.gif

Of course there is going to be similarities everywhere. Remember Nintendo did use the same AV output from SNES all the way to the Gamecube. They are all about backwards compatibility. Sadly it's what is holding them back now.

And the same RF adapter from the NES was used until the Wii came out.

Then again, why would anyone be using an RF adapter in 2006?

I don't kow why people would really complain about its length. I mean that would be a non factor for me. Looks the same size as a dvd player. Now, on to the screen controller thing. It looks big and awkward honestly but if implemented correctly i think could be awesome but then there are the normal controllers. Im not a big fan of consoles but It actually makes me interested in it.

Wii U is 2 inches deeper(longer) than the Wii and smaller/lighter than a 360s PS3 slim.

Wii U supports 1080p video and 6 channel PCM audio over HDMI, while the Wii supports 480 video and 2 channel audio.
