still. less than 15 bucks for an i5 2400 (used but with local shop warranty) and a brand new motherboard and memory the only difference is I'll be using stock cooling(I sold my megahalems). I can't OC anyway so it wouldnt matter rolleyes.gif.

Oh those i5 2400's get rather hot..
I did a build for a friend and it topped 100c, you might want to snag a Hyper T4 for it to be honest. That halved his temps

100 degrees with stock cooling? i thought SB chips are much cooler? my i5 3570k was fine with the stock cooling with a slight 4.2ghz overclock and they were sposed to be the hotter chips..

i don't really want to spend anymore tbh. defeats the purpose of the whole mini-upgrading without spending thing that im doing right now. if it runs hot im just gonna replace the TIM with the gelid gc extreme

It might have just been the stock TIM/A bad mount, it could have been the case.. It was terrible for cooling. It only had 3x fans in it. A singular front 120mm and two back exhaust fans.

There is this about locked Intel Processors very inexpensive boards can do very well.
Yes an H61 Motherboard is "basic." Without overclocking power can be "good enough" rather than the "too muchis not enough" of many premium boards.
Yes, basic H61 boards come without SATA6. Which are only of real use to "max out" an SSD. A few more dollars will add that too.
Generally around $60

B75 literally a few dollars more one SATA 6Gb/s and PCIe 3.0x16, lousy ALC662 audio though
