Computer wont see SSD in ACHI mode, only in ide mode.

Just got a vertex 4 64gb ssd for my wifes pc: GA-880-GM-D2H Bios F6.
Installed the SSD all by its seld on sata_0, no other drives other than rom.

Booted and set bios to achi, load installation of windows 7 64bit- windows wont use drive and says a setting in bios needs changed.

switched to ide mode it see's the drive just fine and even installs window.

after install i fix the registry for achi mode, reboot, change bios to achi- missing boot disk. seems like the board wont use the achi mode, i even updated the sata drivers to the lastest from gigbyte.

Im stumped, anyone lead the way??
