I wish I could get excited about this, but it isn't even in reference to any potential consumer release, so more likely it'll just be professional grade for a year or two before we see it and they call it the 9xx series or something like that. I don't think this'll be in the 7xx series... maybe the 8xx series, but I am guessing the 8xx series will just be rebranding and beefed up 7xx series.
I'm just moving to AMD for now since a 7950/7970 is more than adequate, plus the game bundle is like na extra $150+ in savings.

You won't be able to add voltage to properly overclock these, so AMD will win this next round. Kind of like they are winning now with the latest beta drivers.

Step it up nvidia.

It's more an educated guess since that's what they already did to the current series. The whole voltage lock debate and all that... that's what he's talking about. IF nVidia was wise... they'd realize the bad PR that garnered and release the voltages again. We'll see I guess.

It will be an interesting year 2013, I guess I should sell my 590 now if I can lol. Pull the emergency GTX285 out of the closet , dust it off and stop gaming (except for Minesweeper and Angry Birds PC lol) until I build the next rig.

I am really excited for the next gen from Nvidia, personally hoping Intel does something to aid the bipolar race, making it a 3 company race for our dollars...though I see no indications of Intel doing this for discreet graphics...

OT:
Time to go big as my i7 920 has reached end of life though I have never felt low on processor speed yet, as most of my apps are not CPU bottlenecked to the point where I see it. Also running it just below 4Ghz helps as opposed to the 2.66Ghz. I'm wondering if we'll see this much headroom again from Intel with no competition...Is SB the last real OC monster?

Time to sell my car and stay home forever!

In the end all these technical terms, architecture, controversies (voltage lock, etc) and guesswork is irrelevant - it boils down to framerates and game performance. As long as they keep stepping that up by big chunks at a time and a healty competition against AMD remains, people will buy their products.

In short I will buy whichever GPU I feel is worth my money and worth the performance increase from my previous GPU, simple as that. Even if it's just a die shrink, or another revision of Kepler, or whatever - if GTX780 blows the benchmarks/games away and comes at a decent price, why the hell shouldn't I buy it?

So... GK204 goes inside gtx780? Falls in line with previous rumors of no big chip in gtx780.
Selling flagship cards with midrange chip in them, NV was actually able to make good dough... even with yields being worse and more expensive than 40nm.
There's not going to be a High End chip in NV's flagship card again... probably ever.
