My rig is acting slow as heck after swapping mobos and cpu

Does any1 know of a good anti malware or program that can decipher what is dragging my computer down? I swapped mobos to dend old one in for rma and went ahead and put my thuban 1100 in instead of my 965deneb. I didnt have to reinstall windows because i forgot to hit boot from cd in time and it booted to the asus mobo! I diud have to reinstall drivers for the new mobo but is still draggy. I ran driver sweeper and reinstalled em again. still dragging. My old mobo was an MSI 990fxa-gd80 that a new case burned up fan plugs because the wires were bare under the top bezel but still ran fine. I swapped it to go ahead and have msi warranty fix it. New mobo is asus m487td evo. I run antec 920 kuhler cooling and a 6850 powercolor cf setup with 2 x 2 gigs of hyper-x 1866 memory. Velociraptor pair in raid 0 and 750 wd blue storage. Thanks!

You need to re-install Windows when you switch motherboards. There stuff there that shouldn't be there.

Take your pick on anti-maware - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2381531,00.asp

I'd say it could be to do with some settings in your BIOS to do with the RAID configuration if you're computer is installed to the velociraptops (I assume it is)

Could you check to see what the bottleneck is when it goes slow? I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find a drive meter gadget and check your CPU/RAM usage to see if it's any of those sitting at 90%-100%

I'd agree with the others and say re-install, but I'll throw a few ways you can check some things out. For a/v take your pick i'd suggest something lightweight so you don't bother wasting time ex. malwayrebytes . Then grab the sysinternals suite if you don't have it, run procexp check for obvious stuff that shouldn't be there, using too much resources. Follow up or even start with this program, it will give you a good look and see if you notice any thing that sticks out, especially any connection that seem foreign to you. Anyway, those are good programs to have around. Here is a link to cports, sysinternals just google for. http://nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html

Have you installed the chipset drivers because that may be a cause.
Personally i'd also recommend a reinstall of windows also.
The operating system usually adds alot of stuff that is designed for that chipset, and when you don't install it may be using generic drivers which makes it perform less optimally.

Well, I would think that if it hadn't been so fast at the get go. I found out that my AVG does include anti malware so thats not it. I have had threats come up since the swap but never before it. I also noticed that when I walk up and put a usb stick or change dvd's that I get static shock and immediate restart. Sum'n is def. weird tho cuz it didnt do it before in the same case with the other mobo. I will run that program to see if any extra stuff is running first. If all else fails, I'll reinstall win 7 but was tryin to avoid it until i get the 990fx board back from repair. Thanks everyone!

Check all of your connections, cables and motherboard standoffs since you're getting static. Double check to be sure you don't have an extra standoff in the tray that the other board used but the replacement doesn't. Also pay attention to the condition of the cables, of any of the insulation looks damaged in any way it needs to be discarded or temporarily repaired with electrical tape until a replacement can be installed.

In my experience, you can avoid reinstalling Windows while still having a completely/correctly functioning system if you manually remove all hardware/devices and drivers, then reinstall everything for the new board. Problem is that this is often a bigger ordeal than reinstalling Windows.

If you simply swap boards without doing anything else, it's often very hit or miss as to whether everything will work correctly or not. If the hardware is very similar, you are often fine, but the greater the difference, the more that can go wrong.
