Hey all!!!

A friend of mine has been saving money to try and catch up to me. he has a 1tb hdd that he recently bought and will use that as his drive for now. He will not be doing any over clocking at this point, so it'll be stock cooling. But I am aiming for "future proof" while trying to stay around $800, so any changes would have to in a down direction. Is there any obvious bottle-necks here? If i end up with a smaller budget and have to downgrade the processor: Phenom (9xx BE) or maybe the 6 core fx? down grade Gpu or Cpu? Think this case only comes with 1 90mm exhaust fan, will case temp be a prob? Any one wanna venture a guess at retail cost of a rig like this?

Honestly also, is there a comparable (price/performance) intel setup?

The main purpose will be for gaming, "DayZ", "eve online", and probably fps's. And general (20 year old) web usage.

have promo codes for $48 off and the rebates come to $55 back in the mail, bringing the grand total of ($882 -$55 in rebates) $747

promo codes not listed:
-$30 power supply
-$15 os
-$3 free shipping on dvdRW

Ok well, you could do tri-fire on that PSU with that GPU.. That 7850 uses like no power at all. Downgrade the PSU.

The rest looks fine. Probably should go with the Samsung 30nm wonder RAM but it's up to you.

after rebates and discounts that Psu comes out to $70 and might never have to be replaced =) (Don't forget it comes with a $30 off promo code)

Well in that case, my only suggestion for change is this RAM:

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3V4G3D-US/dp/B00592002W

They will run 2133MHz @ 10-10-10-27 1T.

Promo codes are fine but personally I'd stay away from mail in rebates because i've heard some pretty awful stuff about them over time. Also I'd rather go with the fx 6300 because it suffers from less of the heat and wattage issues that the 8320/8350 face. You also could grab this power supply for $10 less after your mail in rebate:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341051&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL110812CO&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL110812CO-_-EMC-110812-Index-_-PowerSupplies-_-17341051-L08C

Also to be completely honest because he isn't overclocking he won't get the full value from that chip so just go intel because even though the piledrivers are gret they still don't beat ivy bridge. I'd personally go for this processor:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116782
It has no integrated graphics but you're also getting a graphics card so that's no issue.
Also you could go with this board:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130645&nm_mc=AFC-C8JUNCTION&cm_mmc=AFC-C8JUNCTION-_-EMC-110612-Latest-_-IntelMotherboards-_-13130645-L05C&PID=4902415&AID=10446076

The above combo would make the intel option cheaper and more powerful.

Since you are not overclocking you should be going with an intel build... You do not need an 8 core bulldozer for gaming, it is a waste....

Save cash and go 2x4GB DDR3-1600 while you can get some for $30 shipped at NCIX (you'll never use 16GB). Windows 7 is cheaper yet $80 shipped at NCIX. Without dual GPUs you will really only need a 550W, try a Rosewill Capstone 80+ Gold? NZXT Source 210 is a better case for same price. FX-6300 would suit your needs for big savings.

Would the smaller psu's accommodate future upgrades? cross fire, cpu over clocking, cooling, etc? how much more grow room is there in these downgrades? How hard do I push the more "future friendly" now against price savings?

A quality 550W will do dual 7870's (the GPU you have chosen). A quality 650W will do dual 7970's.
