NEW AMD 7890 based on 7900 series

Thread Starter
Haven't seen this info posted on OCN, thought I might share it with you.
If you're planning on getting the 7870, put it on hold a few days until this baby comes out thumb.gif

'We already reported earlier that a Radeon 7900 chip would be moved into the 7800 lineup. More details have now surfaced, . According to a new information the "Tahiti LE" SKU has been brand named Radeon HD 7890. Information like clock speeds, core and memory configurations are still unknown, the new SKU, according to the report, is being designed to be 15% faster than GeForce GTX 660 on average, while being similarly priced.

AMD is obviously aiming for the holiday season with this product.'

Wow another card from AMD. Makes me think the HD8900 series is well off if still releasing HD7XXX series cards.

Actually surprised to see a new card at this time. Looks interesting though! From the looks of it, it might be compared to 670s?

The card, the gap between the 7950 and the 7870 is pretty small, I just don't see the need of a card in between the two. kookoo.gif

I don't know honestly. But like in OP:

Don't really see the point of moving the 79xx chip down to a 78xx card, but it seems like they're just trying to make some easy money in the holidays, where they expect to sell to a whole lot of people. They might have something up their sleeves though, you can never know.
