HI there

Im wondering how to install my HD 5870 original drivers from the disk onto windows 8 pro. When I try and remove the windows 8 default driver already installed, I dont have to option to delete them.
Cant delete drivers.jpg 23k .jpg file

I also have another (maybe stupid question) but would it be possible to install drivers meant for windows 7 on windows 8??

Regards

You can't delete them because they are built into windows, you'll have to delete them out of the driver repository in the win dir

Why would you want to remove them,

Look I assume you have some drivers you want to install for your GPU. If they are the ones from ATI install them and they will automatically be used by windows.

A better way of doing this would be manually via update device driver in device manager.

If you need some help with that just let me know.

Hi
I have the same question for Windows Vista and built in/pre installed drivers.
I don't use Vista but I have this friend's pc with Vista and a new network card and I can't make it works. Vista link the card to drivers of an older card I suppose (NIC Gigabit Ethernet Realtek) but the card is a TP-Link Gigabit Ethernet. If I uninstall the drivers or try to upgrade them with the original on the cd It simply says that the NIC drivers are good, however the card doesn't work well. I already tried with another pc (Win 7) and I had no issues.
So, Is it possible to eliminate them?
Otherwise I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
Thanks

K.

Do you install/upgrade/uninstall the drivers via device manager? Have you tried downloading the latest drivers from the manufacturers website?

This.

The generic Windows driver does not have to be removed.  Just install the driver that you want to use, reboot, and then you'll be all set.  There is no need to do anything else.

I use the Computer Management (right click on Computer icon -> Manage). Yes I tried the website up to date drivers, no changes.
