What should I upgrade next?

Hey everyone

I have decided I want to upgrade my computer which is a regular for me if I have the money spare here are my current Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H Don't quite remember if its this particular model I'm not at home currently so cant check.
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce 560ti Overclocked
Memory: 8gb of ram 1600Mhz
Hard drive: Two hard drives one which is 2tb and another which is 1.5tb both at 7200rpm
Processor: A Intel quad core I5 2500k overclocked to 4.6ghz
Case: Antec 300

I don't really know what else to upgrade anyone got any ideas? I mean its not the best computer ever but I'm not to sure where to go from here without spending too much money. I thought about getting two SSD'S and putting them in RAID 0 and running my operating system on them and a few other things. Thanks!

Doubt that mobo is a H77, you won't be able to change the multiplier with it rolleyes.gif

I would suggest getting a SSD, ~128-256gb. They're dirt cheap now compared to what they were two-three years ago.

People get model numbers mixed up from time to time, no big deal. Are you just itching to upgrade or are you after a specific performance boost of some sort?

Hey there,

its a little hard to suggest an upgrade without your computer usage habits.

If you want to get into design or video editing get more ram, and what kind of ram do you have?

If you adore gaming get a new gfx card ( and sell ur old one to me for a friend tongue.gif )
What kind of monitor do you have? how many monitors do you have?

An ssd is always a great upgrade, but maybe getting some more bigger ones and running in a mirror raid for data security is a worthwhile upgrade.

Personally I would pick up two ssds to run in striping raid, another 1.5 tb to run in mirror raid for data security on that drive.

Then I would get a couple of nice 23 or 24 inch monitors, stands for them - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Cooling-Z-2-Dual-Monitor/dp/B006OM75I8/ref=sr_1_24?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1352373412&sr=1-24

I think the stands are well worthwhile to reclaim deskspace and move them about better.

But yeah, let us know what your priorities are smile.gif

you have a great computer mate, don't put yourself down!

Basically I just want to upgrade for no specific reason I just like to do it biggrin.gif. Also my generally habits just revolve around gaming not much else really however within my friends group its always quite competitive on who has the best computer. Currently I'm only on one monitor Quite a lame one at that, the SSD upgrade and the dual monitoring sounds like a way to go however upgrading the graphics card might cost a little too much for me right now. I'm not sure a Mirror raid would really be worth while in my case I can afford to lose most of my Data however like I said the RAID 0 definitely sounds good. And Thanks anadalite.

If you're looking at monitors, I suggest also considering whether the monitors can pivot (i.e. portrait view) just in case you decide to run surround/eyefinity a few months down the road. Another bonus are other input ports (HDMI, DP, miniDP, etc.).
