Sorry OverClocker55, I didn't see your post :/ Terrible I know. Well it's working in the x8 PCI-E slot so that's good news. But I would really like to get it going in the x16 though, hmm.

Its more than likely your board. I have heard of some particular gigabyte models that will not run Kepler in the x16 slot, I actually had to refund a buyer who I sold a GTX 670 for with the exact same problem, his AMD card worked fine in the x16 slot on his gigabyte Z68 board but the 670 would not boot unless it was in the x8 slot. No fix that I know of or was able to find, but I did find several people having the same issue with gigabyte boards only. BIOS updates also did not help.

Here are some info from the guy I sold it to:

Well, it works in my second slot (8x), but not in my first. Makes no sense. DLing drivers now, and then I will retry first slot. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the quick responses...

Hmm, will it make much of a difference gaming? I can't afford a new mobo at the time being. I might try installing Windows though, but not until next week since I have work for the next four days.

Just updated the post after digging through my PM's for it, he had the exact same model board you do. I feel like contacting Gigabyte might be the best option. In the end nothing made it work and I had to refund him and take the card back.

Also, it most likely will not make a huge difference in gaming, so you should be safe with the x8 slot for a while. It is not optimal but its not like you will lose 50fps either.

Cheers man. Well, I have owned the board since July last year so I really don't think I'll get a refund haha... frown.gif

Sorry I couldn't bring better news, but I would still email Gigabyte. They have good customer service, so maybe they could get you a different model on an RMA or something.

Haha all good. At least I know what the issue is now. Emailed Gigabyte so if all goes well I'll get a new mobo. Oh, how will gaming be in the mean time? Particularly in BF3?

I doubt you will notice any difference with a single card, although you might have a slight frame rate loss because you are running a high resolution. Try it and see is the best idea.
