decent motherboard+ cooler..OC your cpu
$150-ish + $30-ish= < $230 + $150
i prefer a good thuban OC'd to SB/IB for daily..
but for gaming..up to you..775 e8** is a little faster,even..1156..1155..whatever..IPC is better

Tokkan you're making a bunch of assumptions thinking he can OC that high. My 1055T won't do anything more than 3.2 stable.

Trying to overclock reminded me of why I don't like overclocking.. I tried a few settings yesterday and is it me or has overclocking gotten much more complicated than it was a few years ago ( think AMD Athlon XP 2400 ). I tried a lot of settings! My FSB won't go to 300 Mhz even with more voltage. I'm tired of removing my video card to get to the CMOS clearing pins after a failed boot. My days of overclocking are long gone I just don't have the patience for it much anymore, I'd rather spend more money on a system that I can run at stock or close to stock tongue.gif

I found that an upgrade to a 3570k and Z77 mobo will only run me $290 from Microcenter! I'm going to go with that option, I also hear that it's ultra easy to OC.. let's hope so

Am I? Or am I detailing info I came accross and passing it to another person?
Who's making the assumptions now?
Cause if I do like you, and base what I say on my chip I'd say that there's no way in hell that chip is stuck in 3.2Ghz and that you are most likely doing something wrong.

But I don't go arround and take down people credibility cause of my bad experience/lack of knowledge, I simply pass my knowledge arround and give solutions.
A Phenom II typical max OC is 4Ghz. Not many go above 4Ghz, I specified the values I've seen that other people achieved with 4Ghz.

I appreciate the fact that you posted just to say that to me and nothing useful to the topic/OP.
Thanks

@OP Put your mobo/cpu on the marketplace... try to get some money back from your system.
In the end you did the correct choice.

I agree, my CPU may not be capable of getting near 4Ghz but I will still give it a slight try I shouldn't give up so easy here's exactly what I've done so far:

I set the CPU NB, RAM and HT link to super low speed in the BIOS

I then booted into windows to set the FSB with AMD OverDrive, I set the FSB to 286Mhz, resulted in HT Link @ 1744mhz , RAM @ 1144, CPU NB @ 1744, CPU @ 3796mhz

I then put the FSB to 300mhz and the system crashed..

I then was aggravated, the whole process of finding why my system crashed At that speed and tuning to get a stable overclock just seems daunting, are there any overclocking guides for the 1045T line or CPUs on here?

It is..boringly so.Pretty sure someone with double-digit IQ could do it.

it crashed cause your ram doesnt like to be overclocked that high
300x4 = 1200
set your ram to 333 and try that 300 again

I have 2 amd 6970s and get god like performance.
I would never touch intel for games.
Food for thought.
