Most games will keep the vertical height, and show more on the horizontal.1280x7201920x720
Different resolution and aspect ratio than the LG display but the same principle. tl;dr, wider is better. To a point anyway.
As to why more horizontal visibility is preferred over vertical is simple: enemies typically don't come at you from above or below. As well it replicates better the human FOV which is more wide than tall.
