AMD announced today that Ahmed Yahia Al Idrissi has been appointed to the company's board of directors as a second representative of Mubadala Development Company. Yahia currently serves as executive director of Mubadala Industry, where he is responsible for Mubadala's growing industrial portfolio, including metals, mining, utilities, and advanced materials and products. Prior to joining Mubadala, Yahia was a partner at McKinsey & Company where he co-led the firm's Principal Investor practice. He was also the managing partner of McKinsey's Abu Dhabi practice.

well that suggests AMD's growing relation with Abu Dhabi even the new AMD Opteron 6300-series processors are code-named Abu Dhabi

Actually it is.

AMD is stuck in a vicious cycle. They have little money, so they can't afford as many engineers. They can't afford many engineers, so their product suffers. Their product suffers, and they don't sell as much. They don't sell as much, and then they're back to having little money.

Intel on the otherhand is sitting on mountains of cash and income because they've had success in the market. However, their success in the market is partly due to their terrible business practices.

AMDs problem is lack of R&D funding and year after year hardware updates that are continously better than your competitions. The only reason people even buy AMD is because they are cheaper or they are fanboy / Intel Haters.
