[YT/EO] An Introduction to The Elder Scrolls Online - Page 12

Just because it doesn't have first person (maybe) and the fighting system is slightly different (maybe) you wont play? This is a world we've spent decades learning and dreaming about, we have an opportunity to see myths come to life, and to dispell certain claims laid in our current ES timeline. This is a deep world with an immense story and you're going to write it off because you personally are not a huge fan of the controls?

I don't see how you could claim to be a fan of the series if the method behind you swinging a sword is more important to you that the story and the lore. Clearly you're a fan of the games, but you can't be a fan of the series, because it's the story that turns this collection of games into a monolithic series. I'm sorry you don't have any interest in playing this, but even if it's a sub-par system, they can't even consider making this game unless the story is solid as hell.

They could essentially make a Skyrim 2: Return to Morrowind, or something similar... or even explore a new region and people would be much more pleased than what's likely to come with ESO. I'll be sitting on the fence for a while for sure...

Lets see, youve got 5 single player iterations with tons of lore/story lines and characters. Youve got a plethera of books with just as much lore and story lines. Half of the stuff you only read about or get told about in the games or books, you dont get to experience all of it nor all of the lands. Now we have an mmo that they are promising alot of the lore and lands weve heard and read about over the past 20 years can now be fleshed out and experienced. Not too mention, no one is leaving the old ES traditionalists on the way side. This isnt even being done by Bethesda, its a whole nother company Zenimax...so dont go getting your panties in a bunch because a developer thought it would be a cool idea to make a mmo out of the series. I garuntee you Bethesda will continue to make single player entries into the series just like they have been doing.,

Who knows, it might actually turn out to be pretty awesome. They developers seem very excited about the game and work they are doing, in all the interviews or videos ive seen.

remember Bethesda =/= Zenimax lol

I'm not a big PvP person, but the massive battle seems interesting. I hope the PvE is also good and balanced.

I worry about this, specifically. I really wish someone in or entering the MMO space would go buck wild with graphics and an in-depth combat system - a Crysis of MMOs if you will. Design the game around the 7870 / 660 ti for "optimal" settings, but give the 79X0 and 670+ owners something to gawk at. The game looks interesting enough for me to check out (I doubt it will disappoint me like GW2 did), but its high-end graphics and PvP will make or break it for me.

At the moment, it reminds me of a modernized NWN. Which would be very much appreciated. I seriously hope they can keep the traditional Elder Scrolls modder and dev crowd involved.

Now there is a place you can bank with an MMO... updating NWN on a modern graphics engine... drool.gif

You have to look at it from a developers stand point. yes that would be awesome and alot of us wish they would do that. But realistically, only the top 10-20% of PC owners would be able to play it at decent settings with a decent fps. Which would in turn make them lose a lot of revenue.

Maybe a game that looks like this...but has a setting above ultra that is called Crysis lol, so if you have a lower end machine you can play it as it looks in the video and if you have higher end Crysis experience lol.

Watch in a couple years, photorealism will be the norm and will no longer be the Ultra high end settings you need a 5k rig to play at with decent fps.

I've never player a mmo, I should try that star wars 1 that went free

So how do these mmo's even work, how are quests "handed out" to new players?

When you die, what's a common thing to happen, respawn you in some nearby town/entrance to a cave...?

Are the thieves/pickpockets in some mmo's? Are there vetern's just running around town up to nnobs and slaying them and taking their loot?

Depends entirely on the game. For your sake, I would avoid EVE. wink.gif
