Well at that point it would probably be something like 6GB of DDR6 Vram with an integrated ARM chip in the GPU. 64GB of DDR5 memory (or no memory at all if hard drives get fast enough). Sky LAKE and 4K monitors will probably be fairly old in 4-5 years, and maps of video games will be real. (keep in mind that the textures of a video game could be made 100% real right now. The only issue is that the storage for a game like that would be like 32 terrabytes or something like that. In 4-5 years, we might be able to fit 32 terrabytes onto a USB device, so games that would use real world graphics might be a possibility.)

I think I've heard HDDs are in the end of evolution, just expanding the better technology which allows up got 60TB HDDs at ridiculous price. Can't wait for future tho biggrin.gif

OLED's are amazing. Their color reproduction is worth it alone. I have not heard they will not last as long as just LED. Either way it will be nice to have the option and by the time they are affordable to the masses they may have worked the kinks out.

Well, there was one shown at some big show (CES?) a while back from Sony that really was an LED panel (Crystal LED I believe they called it), but you're right that there are no LED monitors for consumer use on the market right now.

I'm on this guy's side. OLEDs cost less than standard LEDs, they can be flexible (still being experimented with), they're more efficient, they can be brighter and have higher viewing angles, and they have a fast response time. I'm pretty sure that's more than enough to counter life-span, which should still be pretty long because they aren't going to be selling crappy televisions that only last for a few years, knowing Samsung, LG, Sony, etc.

I do prefer plasma though; great viewing angles, it's becoming very efficient, great colors, deep blacks, etc. They can usually cost less too.

They don't cost less, who gives a crap if they can be flexible in a TV?, they aren't more efficient, viewing angles...no, and they don't have as fast of a response time as a conventional LED. If any of your statements were true, they would be using OLED technology in these crazy Cree and the like LEDs.

Negative ghost rider, that's an apples to oranges comparison.

OLED is more of a display LED, which is not Cree's bread and butter.
OLED is more of a display LED? What does that even mean? Both are light sources, and conventional LEDs are better in every aspect except being paper thin and flexible, which people shouldn't care about with a TV.
