How to cure MMO Meloncholy?

So I'm just making this post here because I tend to trust this and respect this community more than others.

Basically I started off with Ultima Online for around 6 years as my first mmo and favorite sandbox ever. I won't list my mmo pedigree of the list of themeparks I've played but UO and SWG where always among my favorites. I've also been playing WoW for about 8 years, MoP dragged me back after a year hiatus. Well now the shine of pandaria is wearing off and I'm a bit at a loss.

I have a few issues that I just can not shake no matter how hard I try, I'll list off my reasons for leaving games.

Rift: lower population makes me nervous for longevity of games life.
UO: left because friends left
SWG: never joined a guild so I got bored and left after making a city
SWTOR: left because the negativity got me (even tho I enjoyed the game)
TSW: never really gave it a shot after week 1 because rift distracted me
GW2: honestly I missed having a carrot on a stick and progression

Those are some of the main reasons I leave MMOs and I'm an all or nothing kind of mmo gamer, when I select an mmo I go "ok I'm in this for the long haul". Another huge thing that detracts me from mmo is all the corporate nonsense, I like swtor but the more I read about EA and bioware being bad or whatever makes me not want to play swtor and it annoys me a lot.

So the point of this post, does anyone have any suggestions on overcoming negativity about MMO's and just playing what I like? Or more importantly does anyone have any suggestions for maybe a better sandbox or good theme park mmo?

Basically playing no MMO right now makes me feel homeless!

I had the same problem with guild wars 2.......no carrot, I was like whats the point, ha.

But seriously, having played wow intensely then taken a break..........I'd take a break from mmo's, play dark souls and some other games maybe..........I find if I'm not enjoying things like mmo's i need a breather.......perhaps even do some other things: read, workout, learn a new skill, etc..

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. It's not quite an MMO but kind of has that feel to it, It's a medieval FPS, but you can play in 3rd person. It's still very new, but there are classes and a means to level up, no skill points though, Atm the leveling system is pretty much for bragging rights, but they are going to add more customization, classes and weapons to the game.

Best of all its only 25 bucks, no monthly fee.

I do play a lot of other games but I have a weird mentality of it being and mmo I feel like I'm building myself up to last for years! But with other genres of games I just don't get that feeling.

Chivalry I do want to try out to be honest.

Myself being a long time WoW player and long time raider in BC and WoLK I just do raid finder stuff now solo the lvl 70 raid instances for xmog gear and still do random heroics with the wife. If you're good enough find a 10 man raiding guild to start and see if you like the raid grind. PvP is also something that is a time killer you can do solo and still has progression. If you like BG's step it up to arenas or RBG's. Not sure how far in each path you've gone but there is always some other path to go. Otherwise go outside. RL blows DX11 out of the water.

You know about 2 years ago I tried the EVE trial and there was almost no tutorial and I could not figure anything out at all but I have heard good things about it if you can figure it out.

When I get tired of playing MMOs it’s usually because I’m doing the same thing over and over and over. Try something new, If you have done everything then its time for a new game. Always the good guy and never hurt anyone? Go evil, take risks, do something other than the “norm”.

Maybe try Eve Online? It’s the ultimate sandbox with a player driven market, everything you see for sale a player built, that means you can manipulate the marked and people do it all the time. It might not be your style but maybe it’s worth a try? I can give you a free 21 day trial, or you can do the 14 day trial they offer. It has a ridiculous amount of content and just because you are a new player does not mean you can’t kill more experienced players, there is no leveling system. At least look into it, if you find it even semi interesting try it out.

When I get bored I do something new, I used to be the good guy that always ran missions, then I trolled lowsec and lived off peoples tears, now I’m in null sec doing plexes and anomalies. I’m jump all over the place and do different stuff all the time to keep myself entertained.

Edit: If you want to try eve again you can hang out with me to learn the ropes.
