I'm in the market for a new card and was thinking about getting a Powercolor. Can anyone tell me of any experiences good/bad they've had with them? Any and all input is appreciated.

I've had a PowerColor 6950 2GB reference with a black PCB that could be flashed to a 6970 and it worked fine until I killed it myself.

Now I have a PowerColor 7850 2GB reference card as well and well since its reference the fan is quite loud and it's the same reference fan on the PowerColor 7770 and 7750 cards...

Overall they're great and I got a good OC on my 6950 as well as my current 7850, OC'ed to 1Ghz Core Clock and 1350Mhz Memory Clock under an EK FC-7850 Full cover block, idle on 24*C / load 45*C with ambient temperature at 20*C.

Well I have a Powercolor PCS+ 5770 that's overclocked and still going strong. I purchased it in 2009. Very good and reliable company. I just purchased the ASUS 2GB 7770 and its also a well made good card. thumb.gif

I'd have to disagree with the XFX choice as I currently running an XFX 4850 1GB OC'ed to 700/1100 24/7 w/o issue for 2 yrs, but the question was not about XFX but Powercolor. Thanks for your input though.

I have had lots of experience with multiple AMD OEM card manufacturers. In the last 6 months I have purchased 22 7970 cards from many OEMs. I had 4 Msi Lightning 7970, 4 XFX Double D Black edition 7970, 1 sapphire reference 7970, 1 sapphire dual-x 7970, and 12 Reference powercolour 7970. I only had one problem and it was with on of the XFX cards overheating.

So no issues with the Powercolor cards? I was thinking about a 78xx or 79xx from them.

It depends on which PowerColor card you're talking about. I've read some worrying things about at least one of their 7970s. "Cost effective" VRMs are a very worrying thing, especially on a $500 card.
Assuming it uses a reference PCB though the only question would be how do you feel about their RMA process(which you can find on their site) and experiences people have had with their customer service.
Also note that all the 78XX and 79XX series cards I've seen from PowerColor using a non-reference cooler have literally NO VRM/VRAM cooling.
And if noise is a big issue for you, the AX7950 3GBD5-2DHPP seems to be the quietest 79XX series card.
