I have a hunch that if the AH did not exist in this game, real money or gold, and we were able to create PUBLIC GAMES, millions would still be playing.

Diablo is the type of game you play through HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of times... it better have a damn good story!
No amount of gameplay additions/changes will fix the fact that the entire atmosphere of the Diablo universe feels watered down.

the story is largely irrelevant id argue. i mean 99% of the time people skip all the dialogue and cutscenes anyway. i agree about the atmosphere though

Highly likely.

A lot of people seem to think that you can "just ignore the AH if you don't like it!" but it is too late, the game had to be developed knowing that real money was on the line and everyone playing could potentially use the auction house. What things did this affect? It made a lot of things turn into LOW RISK design. It's much easier to balance items that only have boring stats on them than it is to balance items with loads of other skills or interesting modifiers. Sure, item balance still had a few problems, but for the most parts its straightforward.

Have they figured out how they are going to do PVP yet? Are they going to allow cash bought items? Or have an option for no RMAH matches? The fun of fighting people and gear progression gets throw out the window when you can just buy it.

i think the rmah is awesome. the idea that i can get payed instead of random farmers in china appeals to me, since it's going to happen anyway. prohibition isn't always the best answer.

to many older people maybe it's not that a big of a draw. but for the under 30 crowd who are still in school (me) $10 or $15 dollars here or there adds up. it means i can occasionally eat at a half decent restaurant or get or coffee or something. all for doing something i'd be doing anyway

So much negativity in here smile.gif

Game post 1.0.5 is the game I wish came out at release. However, it is out now and I enjoy the game again.

The game is moving in a better direction. While I wish PVP would come out sooner than later it does not really matter to me. The longer it takes to come out the less I have to hear "Nerf X class" they 1 shot me.

I will buy the expansion. It will be free for me using the funds I have made selling gear.

Why do you think they would even consider that? You could just join games with other players and trade instead. And you're always going to select for people with more time to grind. Why is it so bad to want to spend money or gold instead of time? Especially since you can't get anything with money you can't get by grinding.

I have read through this enitre thread and have only read one other person complain about what killed this game for me, the ability to make MY toon MINE. I want to be able to put points in strength or dexterity or.... you get the point. And it might just be me but I find the new skill tree annoying I liked the old one better, this one is just confusing and again I don't feel like I am able to really make the character mine. To get around the item drop problem I just lvled 2 chars. at the same time, it worked because all the things that I needed for my barb would drop when I was playing the DH and all the stuff that I needed for the DH would drop when playing the barb, then I would just save it in the stash and pick it up with my other char. I will have to say that its retarted that I had to do that, why not have items drop for the char that you are playing? I also have not played much recently I went through the game twice and just got bored having to farm with one char to get items for another if that is one of things that they fixed then I might try and play again. I also got the game for the sol reason of PVP if that does not come as promised I will more that likely stop playing. I know I am going to get yelled at for saying it but, it was promised from the get go so I have every reason to want it.

Banning the RMAH from anything is directly against Blizzard's new religion. Besides, would it matter? What is to stop someone from buying something from the RMAH and selling it on the normal AH for gold to use towards gear for PVP?

I really wish they offered a private gaming experience with no need to be online or get the latest patch and as a result you can't use the AH but yet can still play with friends who are also playing in private. That is about the only feature that would influence me to buy the expansion.

I'm betting they will pull the same stunt they did with WoW Panda expansion and not allow you to use Blizz bucks on it. I sent all the money I made to paypal because the blizzbucks only seemed to be good for ingame items that would never belong to me so I felt silly buying them. I brought the game for the experience of playing it with the enjoyment of discovering new gear in the world. Seemed a little less like playing if I just AH brought all my gear and this counts for AH and RMAH.

I can't really comment on the new editions as I stopped playing shortly after they nerfed inferno.
