Lots of people have already complained about this dead horse. We call it "lack of build diversity due to primary damage attribute and weapon DPS" which is compounded by poor itemization, lack of proper testing, and heavy blow from nerf hammers. biggrin.gif They wanted to do away with the skill system to allow for more immediate access to skill and wanted a primary attribute, because in D2, attributes were mainly saved to be able to use gear while the rest went into vitality or energy. Unfortunately, when all those are combined together, diversity goes out the window. Everyone piles on for the same general type of gear and with builds, you can either lean towards control or glass cannon.

i don't think that's the only problem. look at wizard, a lot of their abilities just seem really poorly designed or gimmicky, like spectral blades. they didn't give them enough cc and they gave them very little mobility and apparently just expect them to tank. but of course wiz still has low health so this is an impossibility.

they need to make teleport have a way shorter cd. i don't get why dh gets to have loads of mobility but wiz get's almost none

Meh... i've given up critiquing the wizard. At this point in time, I cannot honestly recommend anyone to use the wizard (told you so) unless they have enough gold to invest in gear for a CM build, which has fairly high requirements since the nerfs. Blizzard needs to quickly figure out what direction they are heading in when it comes to wizards, before the class is worth playing again.

i don't think it can be fixed in a patch or by balancing abilities even. i feel like they're going to have to get new abilities to be playable, but fixing teleport would definitely be a step in the right direction.

It is still possible to balance out the wizard, but Blizzard needs to figure out where they want the wizard at first. Right now, the wizard is more like the jack of all trades:

- Lack of mobility compared to other classes
- Multiple melee range spells, but too squishy to sustain
- A lot of AoE control, but lack of high nuking abilities combined with new CC resistance makes it progressively useless
- Good kiting range, but takes too long to kill due to lack of true nuking
- Cool downs are too long without critical mass
- Only 1 viable build in high MP levels and it is the build that Blizzard does NOT want to see

I think that they will either have to completely rework the wizard as it has so many useless skills and so little synergy among the spells and passives. Given as they will probably not do that, the only option is to dramatically increase the damage of the lesser skills or increase CC to compensate to CC diminishing returns.

i think the lack of nukes is a major issue. it's not just that they are underpowered, they number they have is so limited. i mean the only "true" nuke they seem to have is arcane orb. this is partly why i think maybe we'll have to wait for an expansion, at least to play a more traditional style wizard

Yup! The only saving grace of starting a Wizzie now is that the spells look the coolest IMHO, otherwise DH is a better kiter, WD is a better nuker, and Monks/Barbs are better melee. Hell even a weapon throw barb kites better than a wiz.

The auction house(gold and RMAH) and the overpowered demon hunter on release ruined this game. If you weren't playing a demon hunter come release you weren't doing inferno.

I switched from my 60 barb stuck in the early parts of act 1 for weeks to having a demon hunter grinding inferno act 3 chests in less than a week. Sad part is the few days it took me to get to inferno i never optimzied my skill build. Just stuck with some random loadout i had from the end of normal. I only purchased some cheap weapon about half the price of anything i bought on my barb.

The big problem with the game though is drops, drops are not rewarding. It requires way to much time to get an upgrade. The new paragon levels didn't do it for me so i stopped playing. Had the game released with paragon levels in a balanced state with a refreshed economy i might even still be playing it. I just hate how you have to stick to one class with all his paragon levels. I want to be able to switch between each character and have the same chance of finding good items. I haven't played the game with the monster power level , it looks like a terrible idea to me though.

monster power was in d2 as well. i think paragon is kind of a mixed bag. on the one hand it gives you a sense of reward for playing post-60. on the other hand, it definitely discourages playing other characters.

I think that bosses should have set probabilities for set drops, like in D2 where you can count on specific bosses to eventually drop certain things. Right now the only things that monsters are guaranteed to (eventually) drop are garbage, keys, organs, and certain plans. There is no reward when you know that you can farm a boss as much as you want and you will not get the specific item you are looking for. That and the progression of loot quality that made playing much more rewarding in D2.
