Windows Backup system image

Thread Starter
What exactly will be backed up if I create a system image using Windows Backup? Is it enough to have just a system image if I wish to restore system settings, installed applications and their settings after a reinstall of Windows?

I'm using Windows 8

I just did one before and noticed your post!

In short, its an exact backup of your PC, so even if you install/format it will restore it to exactly how it was.

Here is what I do,

  • Create a system image when i have my Windows how I like it
  • Install this: Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool (works on WIN 8 too)
  • Create a USB bootable key with the Windows ISO (download from here)
  • Restore image that I created above if ever I need it
