Please recommend me a solid overclocking motherboard under $200 - Page 2

May be changing my mind and going for the udh5 instead even though I won't be able to use my sound card. I am reading that the overclocking on this board is fantastic. Anyone have any pros or cons to this choice vs the p8z77-v pro?

UD5H and P8Z77-V Pro should overclock about the same. They both have 6 phases doubled. UD5H is cheaper though (non-WB) with better audio.

I can't believe no one said the MSI MPower. It is MSI's baby when it comes to overclocking. It is hand tested at 4.6ghz for 24hours, meaning the chance of getting a DOA board is pretty much impossible. It is a rock solid overclocking board. I have one I know.

Gigabyte z77x-ud5h , just don't run fans on max if you have ones that are noisy (go silent mode).

I think the advantage the P8Z77V-Pro has is the software: for fan control (Fan Xpert 2), better USB3.0 transfer rate over the non-Intel ports, and less BIOs hiccups (boot loops, etc.). EasyTune6 leaves a lot to be desired in terms of V_core as well. The P8Z77-V Pro has 2x PCI slot. Asus supposedly has crap RMA though.

GA Z77X-UD5h has 1 x PCI slot

UD5H has no non-Intel USBs... and I have heard too many complains about Fan Xpert bugs to consider it a good selling point...

These are all Intel USB 3.0 ports and what Gigabyte did here was to use dual VIA VL810 USB hubs to multiplex the USB ports and create more of these.

I run an esata or USB 2.0 backup drive. I would rather run it on esata. The gene does not offer this, if you referring to the big brother I would absolutely love to have it if you we're to spot me the other $180

The Msi looks nice but it's the same problem as above. It didn't have esata avail. I know I didn't mention it in the first post but I kind of want it to be there. The pro and the ud5h have esata.

You may have swung me back to the p8z77 if they are the same and i can use my sound card. Man this is a tough decision. Who uses better mosfets and caps etc... I was reading on sinhardware this morning that the ud5h was using Top of the line caps and vrms I am no expert in this stuff but it is the entire reason I am swapping out the asrock. I plan to run a healthy vcore for several years chip willing. 1.4 for now if I go water I can have 5ghz with 1.5v maybe sometime next year. I will need a good board to do that but I am not financially able to step into the $250 to $300 range for a board.
