Just because humans require specific things to support our life doesnt mean that if aliens exist that they require the exact same things. For all we know, there could be thousands of other lifeforms out there and we might be the only ones who even breathe oxygen. Not everything is required to conform to the was humans are.

Well if it is able to form in the same conditions, it is bound to have similiaritys, like being able to breath, having lungs and a circulation system of some design. Eyes to see or a comparable organ that provides sight.

Though a alien could have strange abilitys, like how we are all physical. We see, smell, taste, hear, and feel. But what if they had another sense.

We don't know. There very well could be. If its anything like our earth though there needs to be just the right conditions to create the first precursors to life followed by 4-5 billion years worth of evolution. Slight change but very possible

Still doesn't mean its not possible.
I don't get your reaction tbh comes over as a bit offensive.

First precursors to life is life right? I don't expect to see humans living there.

Not necessarily so. You are assuming that this organisms mechanisms for cellular energy require O2. While this is highly likely it is not absolutely required. There are different cellular and chemical processes that can yield usable metabolic energy. In the past scientists believed there could be no life without light. Then we discovered organisms living on the bottom of the ocean by oceanic thermal vents, which utilized previously unheard of chemical reactions to garner cellular energy. Just one example. There are many examples of anaerobic bacteria which do not require breathable O2 to survive.

Maybe they would have a light detection orifice/organ, maybe they do not. Nobody can really say.

OT: This is pretty cool. Now we just need some serious advances in physics, so my [future] kids can get there.

I should be dead by this time or a very old man, so I'm safe, but isn't it possible that we are looking for life without taking into consideration that if we do find life, they might be hostile. Scifi anyone? Still the prospects of finding life, even if they want to kill us excites me. thumb.gif
