Oxygen is mostly needed to burn sugar and produce energy for us. If you don't have oxygen, you can't live. Period.

How crazy would it be if it went through evolution the same as earth and is inhabited by humans.

He means molecular precursors, like amino acids and nucleic acids (DNA or RNA). In no way is a single DNA molecule "life" by any stretch of the definition tongue.gif

The first life forms on this planet were anaerobic because there was little to no O2 in the atmosphere.

Oxygen is better described as an electron acceptor. We use three different methods of cellular respiration (aerobic being the primary), but "sugar" is a storage molecule for AMP, ADP, and ATP to push heat. I would recommend that you look at the cellular respiration of deep sea animals (reproductive cycle being the animal qualifier), and find that not all animals require oxygen for cellular respiration.

As far as the OP reference, if the planet looks like the picture, then there is most certainly (>95%) life. But as others have stated, what would the goal be to travel there unless we could use the resources available. Vch similar to early spread of our own population.

EDIT: Corrected (TY aroc91), I was having a moment of disclarity.

Electron acceptor, not donor.
