Please help me get my ASRock A75M-HVS working!

I cannot get the Windows installation to recognize the hard drive. The BIOS recognizes it and other computers recognize it. This board however refuses to recognize it on any port. It also recognizes the DVD drive as do other computers.

I updated BIOS, re-seated the CPU, tried different SATA cables and even tried Molex to SATA adapters thinking it may have been bad SATA power cables. Tried to load the SATA drivers from the disk and it won't do it. It is set to IDE in the BIOS. There are no jumpers on my drive, it is a WD 500GB Blue 3GB/s. Works perfectly on two other computers.

This has to be a driver thing right? Help me please! Reps!

Edit: The drive even shows up when I go to Load Driver through the installation screen. rolleyes.gif

I even tried it in AHCI mode and loaded the drivers straight from ASRock's website and still no go.

Unplug the computer, and remove cmos battery. Just so the bios is at stock, in case something in there is screwy.

Good call, I did actually do that already, still no dice.

Edit: I jumpered the CMOS a couple times and took out the battery for like half an hour.

I had a problem when installing Win 7 Home Premium with SP1, it would ask for drivers, until I gave up and went with my original Win 7 Professional.

I tried it with Vista and 7 Home SP1. I guess I can try my 7 Ultimate disc.

Edit: I guess I'm gonna try this 7 Ult and then RMA it if it doesn't work. I don't know what else to do and no one seems to have any suggestions for anything different.

Edit2: I had to jumper the HDD to 1.5GB/s speed for this motherboard to detect it. Hilarity. Last ASRock board I ever buy, glad it's not for me. Five years ago or whenever SATAII first dropped that would have been the first thing I did. Not in 2012 almost 2013.
