Quote:
NEW YORK — Sprint Nextel Corp. on Wednesday said it has agreed to buy U.S. Cellular Corp.’s service areas in the Midwest for $480 million to boost its network capacity in that region.

Sprint, the third-largest U.S. cellphone carrier, is buying spectrum and 585,000 customers in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio. That’s about 10 percent of U.S. Cellular’s customer base and includes its key Chicago and St. Louis markets.

Very surprised about this actually.

As a new US Cellular customer... This scares me a bit. It looks like eventually US Cellular will be absorbed by another carrier... If that does happen, I hope it is Sprint and not ATT or Verizon.
I hope this boosts my Sprint reception. I get great reception everywhere except where I need it the most....home and work.

As Sprint's coverage in Mid-Michigan is spotty at best, I hope that this area is one oft he spots that will get a boost.

IF only for my friends that have Sprint and always drop calls while calling my Verizon cell phone!

No love for the north east? We have spotty 3G and basically no 4G coverage around my area.

USC coverage and reception in the Midwest is FANTASTIC (I used to have USC). This will be an amazing move for Sprint. Glad I have unlimited and LTE with them!

As long as they continue their no-bull unlimited services I'm on their side.

darn. I was excited to read the title but sad to see they didn't pick up Wisconsin in the "mid west" region. In my area, sprint is the ONLY carrier that doesn't have LTE. Even the little guys like Cellcom have it. I want to switch but sprints plan is $30 cheaper then the rest rolleyes.gif
