[WASHINGTONPOST] Sprint buying US Cellular spectrum, customers in Midwest for $480 million; USC... - Page 2

I may have to switch to sprint now. I hate verizon so much. Sprint has some great incentives to switch if they truly are getting US Cellular's towers.

you better hope its not sprint if you like data services... good luck getting 4G or a decent data speed with sprint. OH, and dont expect support for your android or windows phones (hell dont even expect a windows 8 phone).

I'm switching as soon as my contract is up.

See I feel like the cons outweigh the pros.

Take Revol for example. They've never had the reception or support of the major companies, but they're still here and for a reason. I feel like despite Sprint's lack of resources, they are more fair in terms of contracts compared to the other leaders, as far as I've heard.

Sprint is going to be on fire in a few years (2014 at the earliest)

They have a long term plan that's going to slingshot them ahead of the competition.

Actually I'd say both Sprint AND T-Mobile are going to be fighting at the top.

Actually, if you want data, you will want to stick with Sprint:

By the end of 2014 their Network Vision project should blanket their entire 3G footprint with LTE and enhanced 3G. If they still offer unlimited data by then, ... thumb.gif

We all know I'm guessing that they will drop unlimited data around that time. I'm betting anything they will instead focus on faster updates that they are already putting in place and pushing out the latest phones as fast as possible.

Hopefully this merge will be better than the one they did with Nextel.

One of my good friends stopped by US Cellular today and spoke with one of the representatives there. She was there inquiring about an upgrade, but she also asked about how Sprint buying them would effect her. It appears that Sprint is not buying ALL of US. Cellular in these states, but just some.. and that the area we live in won't be affected. At least that is what the rep said at the store anyway. I live in IL near the Peoria area.

Well this is somewhat good news for us in Joplin.. They're supposedly working on getting LTE here in Joplin within the next couple of months but calls/text fail half the time and 3G is completely horrid. As per the people with WiMax capable phone, the ONE and ONLY WiMax tower in Joplin can only be accessed about 4 blocks away from it. Glad to see this happening IMO, just hope it works out for everyone else so others can benefit from it.

i don't ever see that happening. the ONLY reason both companies are still relevant is their data plans. verizon offers vastly better coverage with a wider selection of phone than sprint / t-mobile, and AT+T has its hooks too deep in the telecom industry to lose its spot.
