Lan ports.

Wireless point would be nice but is not a necessity.

What are the IP addresses of the two routers?

edit:
I actually have that same netgear router. I'm going through my settings trying to see if I can find anything.

Are both subnet masks 255.255.255.0?

edit:
Just wanna make sure I understand your configuration.

So you have your internet connection coming from the wall > HN9000 > Netgear > Computers plugged into lan ports?

Try setting the IP of the Netgear to 192.168.0.2 (after making sure that's not already in use).

Try setting the second router to connect to the first on 192.168.0.xx

I had a similar issue connecting a second router to my network.

My guess is it has to do with two routers not wanting to play nice with each other on the same network.

My two suggestions would be this:

1. Install DD-WRT on the netgear so that you can set it to act like a switch. My only concern here would be either something going wrong with the firmware flash, or not being able to get the settings right.

2. Buy a cheap switch and call it good.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10521&cs_id=1052104&p_id=7854&seq=1&format=2

^^ I have that exact switch. It's pretty nice. Simple as can be and just works.
