How to end running apps on Android 2.3.6?

Thread Starter
I have an unlocked Motorola Atrix 4G, and I was wondering how to end the recent apps just like in ICS when you press the button and it shows the recent apps, and you could slide them off.

I used task killers, but in the running apps, the apps keep coming on.
Can't I press a button, just one, to see what apps are running, not services and other crap, just apps, and close them, is that so hard to do?

So is there an app for this? I have rooted the phone.

It's not an issue. Leave them running. It's not what's killing your battery. Android handles background apps well.

Some Roms have "long press to close" which I find neato. Look into that.

Whoa sweet! That is awesome. How exactly do I get Roms, from XDA devs, with rom manager?

Also, how can I see what is running, JUST APPS, NO SERVICES, and open stuff that I didn't close? For example I open up netflix to find a movie, then press home, and text message my friend the name of movie. I forget to close Netflix, can I see what apps are actually STILL OPEN? Would I have to use the built in, "Running apps" page?

Yeah I tried, but isn't there a way to just end apps properly, like in ICS, without seeing all other junk stuff that are open?

Advanced Task Killer should do that for you. When you open it, it shows the running apps. It's been a while since I've used it, but in the settings I think you can set what you see (like services or just apps). Just check what you want to kill and leave anything else unchecked and it will just kill those apps. In the future, the apps that you left unchecked should stay unchecked, so if you don't want to kill certain things then you don't have to worry when you kill the tasks. AFAIK there is not any 3rd party app to emulate the way you can pull up running apps in Android versions from ICS and up and just swipe them away to kill them.

Wipe Battery Stats in Android Recovery. Power to 100% then let it die to 0% then let it charge to 100% and the battery should be good.

Roms can be found at that site and also rom manager, but I can't link you because it's against TOS (Gotta' love this).

Oh, I could try it again. I guess that is the closest it can get to what I am looking for.

When I let it die to 0% does it have to be by having the screen on and wifi, bluetooth, gps, or can I use it normally for 2 days until it gets to 0%?
