im about to go and buy an FX6100. i need to make sure if all these boards support it since its the only one they have in stock at the local store.

Google search the board, go to the manufacturer's website, and then look at the CPU support list. I'll do it for you, but just know that's how to do it for future reference

yeah i googled the boards and the manufacturer websites said they support it.
But the store's website said it only supported AM3 so i was doubtful.

there might be a bios version difference or something. anyway thanks for confirming that the fx 6100 is supported

The ASUS M5A87L-M LX is listed as AM3 only in their pdf pricelist here http://www.pccorner.com.ph

I wouldn't run any FX chip off those mobos. A FX-4100 will throttle all those mobos at stock speed under a strees test and there is a possibility that you might blow the mobo up too.

already got it lol too late.
Anyway i was suprised that my sig rig booted to windows right away after a mobo and cpu change.
Although it still recognizes ECS as my motherboard, maybe i should reinstall?

It isn't recognizing ECS as the motherboard, it's recognizing ECS as the manufacturer. If you download CPU-Z and go to mainboard tab, I'm pretty sure it will recognize the motherboard properly. If it does not, flash the BIOS to the latest version and it will be fine.
