upgraded to more ram, but i don't see performance increase & it seems slower than before

before it was 1.5 gbs or ram , now it's 3 gbs of ram but i am not noticing any performance increase and it seems like my pc got slower than before some how

keep in mind my mobo

and also keep in mind that i'm using all 4 ram slots , it uses dual channel memory but speccy says its single-channel ddr?

i have them inserted like this

1 gb - 512 mb - 1 gb - 512 mb

in that order

do i have that correct?

they are all mixed as far as brands go, do all the ram sticks i have match in settings ?

i don't know what i am doing wrong

What is the new memory the 512mb or the 1gb. You may want to remove the 512 and check if it runs better. Download aida64 and do a memory/cache benchmark between the 2. What OS are you running? If you are on XP and the new sticks where the 512mb sticks I could def see why you wouldn't have gained any performance.

Also the only performance to be gained is if you where actually running out of memory and it was hitting your hard drive up.

the new memory is the one in slot 1, the 1gb samsung

and

the one in slot 3, the 1gb of geil

before it was

2 x 215 mb and 2 x 512 mb

i'm running wn 7 ultimate 64bit

also i have to buy aida64 ;/

normally better running dual channel with 2 sticks of same ram. why not buy the low profile 8gb samsung for like 45$? dont see mobo in there, so not sure if supports.

OP try to find RAM of all the same type, generally mixing and matching doesn't work well.
